Pickering UK launches new single-slot PXI and PXIe 1000Base-T1 fault injection modules

Pickering, a leading manufacturer of signal switching and simulation solutions for electronic testing and verification, has expanded the range of supported protocols with the introduction of 1000BASE-T1 PXI and PXIe fault injection switch modules. The compact single-slot 40/42-203 and 40/42-204 series modules offer high performance, capable of switching voltages up to 200V and currents up to 0.8A, with typical differential bandwidths of 1.6ghz and 700MHz, respectively, both providing appropriate specifications over 1000BASE-T1.

     British company Pickering, a leader in the production of signal switching and simulation solutions for electronic test and verification, has recently introduced 1000Base-T1 PXI and PXIe fault injection switch modules, expanding the range of supported protocols. The compact single-slot 40/42-203 and 40/42-204 series modules offer high performance, capable of switching voltages up to 200V and 0.8A, with typical differential bandwidths of 1.6GHz and 700MHz, respectively, all offering moderately higher than 1000Base -T1 specification. The module can choose PXI or PXIe control interface for convenient and flexible choice of chassis.

     The new 1000Base-T1 fault injection module offers a wide choice of channel counts and two fault bus connections. The 40-203 (PXI) and 42-203 (PXIe) series modules can support up to 6 channels in a two-wire connection, and the two-multiplexed 40-204 (PXI) and 42-204 (PXIe) series modules can support Two-wire connection of one or two channels. Both models offer a signal path with 100Ω controlled transmission line impedance. The 40/42-203 series uses high-quality reed relays designed for high frequency applications, and the 40/42-204 series uses high-quality electromagnetic relays, both of which provide a long service life.

      For small-scale test applications, both series offer flexible options for partial fill, the 40/42-203 is available in a 3-channel version, and the 40/42-204 is available in a 1-channel version. If testing requirements increase, the channel count can be increased to 6 or 2, respectively, by replacing a fully populated module in a single slot of the same chassis without increasing the space. Both series use the MMCX connector interface, which is not a differential connector, but enables high channel counts in a small panel area.

      Steve Edwards, Switching Product Manager at Pickering Interfaces, explained the new product: "1000Base-T1 was originally a standard developed for the automotive market, and a requirement in modern automotive design is to achieve high transmission rates with a minimum weight pair of differential conductors. . This standard is also used in industrial control and building infrastructure Ethernet installations. Users can use our fault injection products to simulate a break in one or both conductors in each pair of differential lines. Additionally, two fault bus connections can be Connect power rails, such as ground or batteries and other injected signals, or short-circuit connections to differential lines. The 40/42-204 series modules are capable of routing between differential lines and external components of test equipment, adding to Pickering's fault injection product line new features. Due to the diversity of target industries, we believe that these fault injection products will have many applications in various ATE systems.”
