Pickering Electronics Announces New High Voltage, Long Life Reed Relays

     British company Pickering Electronics has once again released a high voltage relay belonging to the special 67 series. The new product is the highest power switch in Pickering's entire line, rated at an astonishing 200W. The 67 series relays have a cut-off voltage of up to 8kV and a switching voltage of 6kV, and a rated power of 200W. They use a single-in-line (SIL) lead frame, and the coil adopts a bobbinless winding structure, so the package of this series of relays is more than other Comparable devices are smaller.

     Kevin Mallett, Technologist at Pickering Electronics, explained the new product: "Long life tungsten contacts with higher power and high current carrying capability allow the 67 series reed relays to be used in high performance applications requiring high reliability. Not commonly used The single-in-line (SIL) package style of the IC enables some unusual stacking styles, ideal for building a variety of high-density multiplexing or matrix switches."

     Series 67 Reed Relays have PCB connections to switches and coils. Pickering's 68 series relays with similar ratings to the 67 series have a PCB connection to the coil, and flying leads to the switch, isolating the high voltage from the PCB. The new relays are available in coil voltage options of 5, 12 and 24V, with optional internal diodes, and are available in 1 Form A and 1 Form C. Other voltage options are also available, and lead length changes to the 68 series can be made by special order.
