Nexperia's world's smallest and thinnest 14, 16, 20 and 24-pin standard logic DHXQFN packages

     Nexperia, a specialist in basic semiconductor devices, announces the world's smallest and thinnest 14-, 16-, 20- and 24-pin packages for standard logic devices. For example, the 16-pin DHXQFN package is 45% smaller than the industry standard DQFN16 leadless device. The new package is not only smaller than competing products, but also saves 25% of the PCB area.

     Package sizes are only 2 mm x 2 mm (14-pin), 2 mm x 2.4 mm (16-pin), 2 mm x 3.2 mm (20-pin), and 2 mm x 4 mm (24-pin), 0.4 mm The pitched DHXQFN package is only 0.45 mm high. Devices include: Sixteen Inverter Schmitt Triggers; 8-Bit SIPO Shift Register with Output Latches; 4-Bit Dual-Supply Translator Transceivers; Octal Buffer/Line Drivers; Octal Bus Transceivers; and 8 Bit dual power conversion transceiver.

These new packages are an example of the innovation we bring to the table. Previously, it was unthinkable to pack a large number of logic functions into a small form factor system. However, our new DHXQFN package enables complex functions such as the 74HC595 shift register to be packed into space-sensitive applications such as smart watches, mobile devices and Internet-connected industrial equipment."

     In addition, the small pin size of the DHXQFN package enables the device to be placed closer to the bypass capacitor. This can be a major advantage for designs where glue logic board space is limited, and the short traces between logic and capacitors improve performance in high frequency applications.
