
Nexperia, a high-volume production specialist in semiconductor basic components, has responded to industry needs by defining a new set of MOSFET products to maximize performance. Application-specific FETs (ASFETs for short) employ MOSFETs that provide optimized parameters for a specific application. Significant improvements can be achieved by focusing on specific applications.
Nexperia offers the ASFET series for battery isolation, motor control, hot swap and Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. The improvements that can be achieved with custom ASFETs vary by application, for example, for hot-swap applications, the safe operating area (SOA) can be increased by a factor of 3 to 5; for motor applications, the maximum current rating can exceed 300 A.

With the upcoming release of a new automotive product family, the ASFET category will be further enhanced to provide guaranteed repeated avalanche tolerance for driving inductive loads.
