Nexperia Launches New Automotive CFP2-HP Diode

     Nexperia, a high-capacity production expert in the field of basic semiconductor, announced the launch of 14 types of rectifier diodes suitable for power applications, which are packaged with its new CFP2-HP (copper clip bonded FlatPower). Standard version and AECQ-101 version are available, including 45 V, 60 V and 100 V Trench Schottky rectifier diodes (with 1 A and 2 A options). For example, PMEG100T20ELXD-Q is a 100V, 2 A Trench Schottky rectifier diode. For applications requiring ultra fast recovery, Nexperia also added 200V, 1A PNE20010EXD-Q rectifier diodes to its product portfolio.

     In modern automobile architecture, the number of electronic control units (ECUs) is gradually decreasing, leaving only high-performance and functional ECUs responsible for front axle, rear axle and body control. Therefore, the density of diode components of such units has been greatly improved. In order to achieve these higher density designs, manufacturers increasingly rely on modern multilayer PCBs. Compared with diode devices packaged with SMA, the vertical heat dissipation design using these multilayer PCBs allows designers to save up to 75% of the circuit board space through CFP2-HP, while maintaining the same level of electrical performance. This durable package design extends the operating time of diode components and improves board level reliability, while the new lead shape improves automatic optical inspection (AOI) performance.

Nexperia currently provides more than 240 CFP packaging products, and these diodes are the latest members."

     Today, CFP packaging can be used in different power diode technologies, such as Nexperia's Schottky rectifier diode, SiGe rectifier diode or recovery rectifier diode, but it can also be extended to bipolar transistors. This significantly promotes product diversity, covering single/dual configurations and 1-20A current range, simplifying circuit board design.
