Nexperia Expands Portfolio of ESD Protection Solutions for Automotive Ethernet

Nexperia announced the expansion of its award-winning automotive Ethernet ESD protection device portfolio. The three new ESD protection devices comply with AEC-Q101 and IEEE 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 Open Technology Alliance standards and are designed to protect two bus lines from damage caused by ESD and other transients.

     Nexperia, a specialist in basic semiconductor devices, announces the expansion of its acclaimed portfolio of automotive Ethernet ESD protection devices. Three new ESD protection devices are AEC-Q101 qualified and IEEE 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 Open Technology Alliance standards designed to protect both bus lines from damage caused by ESD and other transients.

     The PESD2ETH1GXT-Q, PESD1ETH1GLS-Q, and PESD1ETH1GXLS-Q are all silicon-based processes that offer several advantages over alternative ESD protection solutions such as varistors. They are more reliable and improved 1 pF (max) diode capacitance ensures higher signal integrity. These ESD protection devices are fully compliant with the IEEE 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 Open Technology Alliance test specifications, meaning customers do not need to certify themselves. Under test conditions, they outperform the AEC-Q101 qualification standard by a factor of 2, ensuring they meet the stringent standards of automotive-grade quality and offer outstanding reliability.

     They combine silicon technology and springback properties to reduce clamping voltage and residual current compared to other competing products. Available in ultra-small leaded (SOT23) and leadless (DFN1006BD-2/SOD882BD) package options, these ESD protection devices offer excellent design flexibility. The leadless package features wet tin solderable side pads that enable automatic optical inspection (AOI) to improve assembly yield.
