New SEN5x Environmental Sensor Modules Now Available

     Sensirion introduces the SEN50 and SEN55 environmental sensor solutions for measuring various relevant environmental parameters. The SEN50 and SEN55 environmental sensor modules serve as a simple and convenient sensor solution platform that can be easily integrated into a variety of applications, saving time to market and reducing costs for manufacturers of indoor air quality solutions.

     SEN5x Environmental Sensor Module Indoor air pollution in buildings such as workplaces or homes can be harmful to breathing and can lead to long-term health risks. Air pollution in enclosed spaces comes not only from outside air, but also from sources such as cleaning supplies and cooking. Therefore, maintaining good indoor air quality is especially important in order to create a healthy and safe environment. Insufficient ventilation and inadequate air purification can both lead to elevated levels of indoor pollutants. By reporting concentrations of relevant pollutants, monitored environmental parameters can help indicate when ventilation or air purification is required.

     Sensirion's environmental sensor modules are designed for indoor air quality applications. The SEN50 Environmental Sensor Module is part of the SEN5x family and is designed to accurately measure particulate matter (PM1.0/PM2.5/PM4.0/PM10). In addition to particulate matter, the SEN55 can also detect other environmental parameters such as: Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), and temperature and humidity. Sensirion's proprietary algorithms can be easily integrated into a variety of applications.

     The applied engine is called the Sensirion Temperature Acceleration Program (STAR), which increases the response speed of the device to changes in ambient temperature by a factor of 2-3. Combined with a temperature compensation engine, it provides end users with a better user experience and more accurate measurement data, thereby saving equipment manufacturers valuable project time and human resources.
