NXP unveils S32G Automotive Integration platform to accelerate software-defined vehicle development

     The newly released S32G GoldVIP from NXP Semiconductors N.V. helps software-defined vehicles with S32G automotive network processors address real-time and application development challenges. This pioneering automotive integration platform offers multiple value propositions for S32G processor evaluation, software development, and rapid prototyping efforts.

     With real-time use case and resource monitoring, users can quickly observe the performance of the S32G. With NXP's pre-integration capabilities, open source software, and third-party software, including secure cloud connectivity and over-the-air update (OTA) services, developers can focus on creating new connected car services without having to spend time building software infrastructure. Combined with the S32G Reference Design Board (RDB2) or GoldBox Service Gateway reference design, users can more easily deploy rapid product prototypes for desktop, lab, and in-vehicle applications.

     The automotive industry's transition to software-defined vehicles, addressing issues such as ECU integration, data-driven automotive services, secure cloud connectivity, and service-oriented architectures, requires a new approach to automotive software development. New challenges for automakers and Tier-1 vendors include multi-tenancy, network management, cloud services, functional security, and advanced security technologies.

     GoldVIP integrates NXP S32G standard and reference software with the Xen Project Type 1 hypervisor to provide isolated Linux virtual machines. Based on the Linux ecosystem, the automotive integration platform is flexible and adaptable, while supporting the deployment of user-space Linux applications to the platform. Equipped with native and remote cloud graphical user interfaces and secure cloud connectivity, the platform provides a rapid prototyping environment that supports Java and Python programming languages.
