     In recent years, along with the high performance and multifunctionalization of automobiles such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and autonomous driving, the number of sensors and processors equipped in automobiles has been increasing, and the multi-layered layers required for their normal operation The number of ceramic capacitors is also increasing. This trend is expected to intensify in the future, and in order to reduce the mounting area and improve reliability, there is an increasing need to improve high-frequency characteristics by reducing the size and capacity and reducing ESL.

     It is generally believed that ESL (equivalent series inductance, Equivalent Series Inductance) is one of the factors that degrade the performance of capacitors, and the lower the value, the better the characteristics of the capacitor. The ESL of 3-terminal multilayer ceramic capacitors, which are attracting attention today, is lower than that of general 2-terminal multilayer ceramic capacitors, so that high-frequency impedance can be reduced with a smaller number of components. Due to this characteristic, it is mainly used in ADAS-equipped cars and its usage is increasing. ADAS is equipped with a high-speed processor, and requires miniaturization and high density.

    Murata has achieved an ultra-high 4.3µF capacitance among 1005M size automotive 3-terminal capacitors by using its unique thin-layer molding technology and high-precision lamination technology to micronize and homogenize ceramics and electrode materials. This capacitance is 4.3 times higher than that of our conventional products, so it contributes to further miniaturization and higher density of in-vehicle equipment.
