Murata launches high-precision digital dual-axis inclination sensor for industrial equipment

Murata has developed digital biaxial MEMS tilt sensor SCL3400 series for industrial equipment, which can achieve high precision tilt detection.      Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has developed the "SCL3400 Series" digital dual-axis MEMS inclination sensor for industrial equipment that enables high-precision tilt detection

     Developed as a successor to the proven single-axis analog high-performance inclination sensor (SCA103T series), the SCL3400 provides correct angle information for a wide variety of applications worldwide. It has two measurement axes and a digital SPI communication interface, with selectable measurement modes of ±30° with a measurement bandwidth of 10Hz and ±90° with a measurement bandwidth of 40Hz. Including the amount of aging, this product has a very small deviation variation below the typical value of 0.12°, so it can be used practically maintenance-free. The newly developed exclusive MEMS structure is a differential structure type with multiple inertial masses, and adopts a detection method that minimizes measurement errors. The components and ASIC of this product are packaged in a 12-pin preformed plastic housing (measured at 8.6 × 7.6 × 3.3 mm) and have proven reliability. SCL3400 is still in the development stage, and product specifications and appearance may be changed without prior notice.

     Additionally, the SCL3400 consumes only 2 mA during operation, making it suitable for battery-powered applications. Since it has the same pin layout (pin compatible) as the SCA3300 series accelerometer and the SCL3300 series inclinometer, it can be easily replaced without changing the PCB design.
