Micron unveils the industry's most advanced 176-layer NAND technology solid State drive for data centers

Micron Technology, Inc announced the world's first data center solid state drive (SSD) based on 176 layer vertically integrated NAND technology. The Micron 7450 NVMeTM SSD can achieve a quality of service (QoS) delay of 2 milliseconds (ms) or less, 1providing rich storage capacity and form factor specifications to meet the stringent requirements of data center workloads

     Micron Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of memory and storage solutions, recently announced the delivery of the world's first data center solid-state drive (SSD) based on 176 layers of vertically integrated NAND technology. The Micron 7450 NVMeTM SSD delivers quality of service (QoS) latency of 2 milliseconds (ms) or less, 1 offering rich storage capacity and form factor specifications to meet the demanding demands of data center workloads.

 

     The new data center SSD uses Micron's industry-leading NAND technology to achieve an ultra-efficient design, including 176-layer storage cells and CMOS-under-the-array technology. The 7450 SSD integrates Micron's own DRAM, in-house developed SoC system-level chips, and associated firmware to quickly respond to market customer requirements and support enhanced device security features.

 

     "PCIe 4.0 is becoming the most widely used SSD interface in servers, and we are launching the Micron 7450 SSD at the right time," said Jeremy Werner, Micron Technologies Corporate vice president and general manager of Storage. "This product leads the industry with state-of-the-art NAND technology for data center SSDS, and importantly, it consistently and reliably reduces latency to under 2 ms, which is critical to achieving quality of service for horizontally scaling data center workloads."
