Microchip's model SA65 chip-scale atomic clock is an embedded timing solution with better environmental adaptability and enhanced performance compared to the previous SA.45s chip-scale atomic clock, such as the ability to Doubled frequency stability and faster warm-up at low temperatures. The SA65 has an operating temperature range of -40 to 80 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature range of -55 to 105 degrees Celsius. At -40 degrees Celsius, the warm-up time is 2 minutes, which is 33% faster than the SA.45s model.
The improved performance of the SA65-type chip-scale atomic clock will benefit developers working on solutions for highly portable military applications including positioning, navigation requiring precise frequencies generated by small size, light weight and low power (SWaP) atomic clocks and timing assurance system (A-PNT) and command, control, communications, computer, network, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system (C5ISR). Improvements such as fast warm-up to frequency after a cold start, temperature stability over a wide operating range, and frequency accuracy and stability for extended runtime in the event of GNSS rejection help ensure successful completion in conflict environments Task.
The SA65 chip-scale atomic clock is the world's lowest-power commercial atomic clock, providing precise timekeeping for portable and battery-powered applications that require continuous operation and timekeeping in environments that do not support GNSS.
