Microchip Technology Inc introduces the PIC18-Q41 and AVR DB microcontroller families, combining advanced analog peripherals and multi-voltage operation with inter-peripheral connectivity for the first time, improving system integration and reducing signal acquisition time, and providing operation in a single design environment convenience and efficiency.
"Microchip adds easy-to-use analog capabilities to cost-effective PIC and AVR microcontrollers so designers can meet the requirements of large-scale IoT systems," said Greg Robinson, vice president of marketing for Microchip's 8-bit microcontroller business unit. With a seamless development tool experience, designers can use these microcontrollers as single-chip controllers or as components for intelligently conditioning analog signals in larger systems.”
To meet the signal conditioning needs of space-constrained sensing and measurement applications such as IoT end nodes and industrial, medical devices, wearables, automotive, and lighting systems, the PIC18-Q41 family of microcontrollers feature configurable operational amplifiers ( Op Amp) and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs) with computing capabilities, especially suitable for edge applications of IoT and large-scale artificial intelligence (AI), including predictive maintenance edge nodes in smart factories. The PIC18-Q41 microcontrollers are available in compact 14- and 20-pin packages and are suitable for use with Microchip's 32-bit microcontrollers and other controllers requiring analog integration.
Mixed-signal IoT systems often include multiple power domains, and the AVR DB microcontroller family simplifies these design challenges while reducing cost by integrating true bidirectional level translators. This can reduce costs for various applications such as automotive, appliance, HVAC and liquid measurement. AVR DB microcontrollers add three independent and highly configurable operational amplifiers, a 12-bit differential analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a 10-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), three zero-crossing detectors, and several core independent The peripherals (CIPs) are ideal for almost any application requiring analog signal conditioning and processing capabilities.
