Micro Crystal introduces the C8 series of ultra-small real-time clock modules

     As electronics continue to miniaturize, Swiss Micro Crystal has made a major leap forward with the launch of its latest C8 series. This series of ultra-small Real-Time clock (RTC) modules, designed specifically for compact and lightweight designs, paves the way for engineers working on smaller, more efficient electronic devices.

     The core highlight of the C8 series is its significantly reduced size (50% reduction compared to the C7 series), while maintaining excellent performance. In terms of miniaturization, the C8 series performs well, providing engineers with a more compact design solution, allowing them to enjoy the convenience of small, while still experiencing the consistent high performance standards of Swiss microcrystalline RTC modules.

     The C8 series is undoubtedly an outstanding example of Swiss microcrystal innovation, which combines a high-performance CMOS RTC chip with a miniature quartz crystal and is cleverly packaged in an 8-pin ceramic housing measuring only 2.0 x 1.2 mm. This integration enables a flat 0.7 mm design, further enhancing the compactness and weight of the series (5.1 mg).

     The C8 series uses a vacuum-sealed metal cover, which not only ensures the reliability of the product, but also gives it ultra-lightweight RTC component characteristics. In particular, although its area has been significantly reduced by 50% to only 2.4 square millimeters, the C8 series still inherits the high-performance advantages of the C7 series. The RV-8063-C8 and RV-8263-C8, equipped with SPI and I²C bus interfaces respectively, are examples of independent nanopower (190nA) timing capabilities in the pursuit of extreme size PCB designs.

     The RV-8063-C8 is an ultra-small CMOS real-time clock/calendar module designed for low power consumption and ideal for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications. The built-in offset register accurately compensates for any frequency deviation from the 32.768 kHz clock. In addition, through the SPI bus interface, the RV-8063-C8 achieves a fast data transfer rate of up to 7 Mbit/s.
