
Maxim's MAX31888 is a 1-Wire high-accuracy, low-power digital temperature sensor for precision temperature monitoring with ±0.25ºC accuracy from -20ºC to +105ºC. The MAX31888 operates at an operating current of 68 μA during measurements with 16-bit resolution (0.005ºC). The sensor communicates with the microcontroller via the 1-Wire bus, which requires only a single data line (and a ground reference) for communication. In addition, the sensor can draw power directly from the data line ("parasitic power"), eliminating the need for an external power supply.
Each MAX31888 has a unique 64-bit registration number programmed into the chip at the factory. This unique 64-bit registration number serves as the node address in a multipoint 1-Wire network. In a multidrop network, optional GPIO pins can be used as address bits to identify the physical location of each device. The MAX31888 is available in a 6-pin µDFN package. The supply voltage range for the external power supply is 1.7 V to 3.6 V. Operating temperature range -40°C to 125°C.
The MAX31888EVSYS# evaluation system (EV system) demonstrates the MAX31888 1-Wire temperature sensor with alarm. The MAX31888 evaluation system includes the MAX31888 evaluation kit (EV kit) and the USB2PMB2 module. Windows® 7/8/8.1/10-compatible software provides a user-friendly interface for demonstrating the features of the MAX31888.
The MAX31888 EV kit includes an on-board DS2484 I2C-to-1-Wire converter with a preinstalled 6-pin μDFN MAX31888ALT+T.
