Maxim Integrated Introduces Industry's Smallest Solar Harvesting Solution, Extending Runtime of Compact Wearable and IoT Products

     Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. introduces the MAX20361 single-cell/multi-cell solar collector with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to help designers dramatically improve the runtime of space-constrained devices. The device is the industry's smallest solar energy harvesting solution, ideal for space-constrained applications such as wearables and the emerging Internet of Things (IoT).

     For wearable and IoT applications, designers often face conflicting design challenges of small size and long-term operation. The MAX20361 can support solar charging in these space-constrained products, providing supplemental energy to effectively extend device runtime. Compared to the closest competitor, this solar collector reduces the solution size by at least half. In addition, the MAX20361 boosts boost efficiency by up to 5% compared to the closest competitor, improving energy harvesting; combined with its adaptive MPPT technology, it further improves overall system efficiency.
