Kioxia provides high-performance PCIe 4.0 SSDs for ordinary PC users

Kioxia Corporation, a global leader in storage solutions, announced today that it has expanded its PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive (SSD) product lineup with the addition of the KIOXIA BG5 series. The KIOXIA BG5 series adopts PCIe 64 GT/s interface (4th generation x 4 lanes) and is accelerated by Kioxia’s 5th generation BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory technology, aiming to bring performance, cost to ordinary gamers and PC users and proper balance of power consumption.

As a virtual multi-LUN (VML) capable client SSD, the KIOXIA BG5 series adds back-end flash performance while remaining economical, making it an attractive choice for a variety of commercial and consumer notebooks and desktops. The KIOXIA BG5 SSD also supports the proven new Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology for fine-tuned DRAM-less SSD performance. The KIOXIA BG5 is designed in a compact M.2 2230 single-sided thermally optimized form factor to support mobile and work-from-home lifestyles. An M.2 2280 single-sided form factor is also available.

The KIOXIA BG5 series is available in three capacities of 256, 512 and 1024 gigabytes (GB).

Sequential read speeds up to 3,500 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 2,900 MB/s

● Random read speed up to 500,000 IOPS, random write speed up to 450,000 IOPS

●Support the latest TCG Pyrite and Opal standards and end-to-end data protection, ensuring data security at home or in the office [1].

● Proactive support for NVMe 1.4 feature set and basic management commands via the System Management Bus (SMBus)

●Support power outage notification signal to protect data from forced shutdown
