KIOXIA First to Launch Next-Generation UFS Embedded Flash Device Supporting MIPI M-PHY v5.0

     KIOXIA USA, Inc. announced the availability of the industry's first samples of a Universal Flash (UFS) 3 embedded flash device supporting MIPI M-PHY v5.04. The new product line features the company's BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory and is available in three capacities: 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The newly released flash memory products feature high-speed read and write performance for a variety of mobile applications, including current flagship smartphones.

     The new KIOXIA devices are based on the next-generation UFS specification (MIPI M-PHY 5.0) and have a theoretical interface speed of up to 23.2 Gbps per lane (x2 lanes = 46.4 Gpbs) in HS-GEAR mode. The sequential read and write performance of the 256GB device is about 90% and 70% higher than the previous generation device, respectively. In addition, the random read and write performance of the 256GB device is about 35% and 60% higher than the previous generation device, respectively. This new generation of UFS offers significant performance improvements, enabling next-generation smartphones and other products to enhance their capabilities and end-user experience in the 5G era and beyond.
