KEMET introduces metal composite power inductors for automotive applications

     The new power inductors provide efficient power conversion while minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI), making them ideal for applications such as the growing number of electronic control unit (ECU) DC-DC switching power supplies in automotive systems. According to Fortune Business Insights*, the automotive electronic control unit market is expected to reach $12.92 billion by 2026, with a seven-year CAGR of 11.9%.

 

     The MPXV series is optimized for automotive applications. Considering the increasing demand and adoption of electronic systems in automobiles, these systems are required to provide higher efficiency, generate less heat, and have lower power consumption. The metal composite core of the MPXV series inductors meets these requirements with the highest permeability of its kind and the high quality of the series makes it ideal for designs where heat is critical and can avoid adverse effects on other critical systems.

 

     Available in a wide range of industry standard SMD sizes, the MPXV inductors operate at temperatures up to 155 ° C with low electrical noise and can be used in all different areas of the vehicle, including under the hood electronics and in very challenging operating environments such as the powertrain. The metal composite is molded around the coil core of the MPXV series inductors, thus shielding the magnetic flux of surrounding electronic devices that might otherwise interfere with sensitive systems. These components meet the requirements of the Automotive Engineering Council's Q200 (AEC-Q200) standard and can be adapted for even the most demanding automotive applications.
