Infineon launches new TRENCHSTOP 5 WR6 series in TO-247-3-HCC package for better system reliability

     Infineon Technologies AG has launched a new discrete package of 650 V TRENCHSTOP™ 5 WR6 series in TO-247-3-HCC package capable of rated currents of 20 A, 30 A, 40 A, 50 A A rich product portfolio of A, 60 A and 70 A, which can easily replace previous generation technologies such as Infineon TRENCHSTOP 5 WR5, HighSpeed 3 H3 technology. This series is optimized for power factor correction (PFC) in domestic and commercial air conditioning systems and welding applications.

     The TRENCHSTOP 5 WR6 switch achieves very low conduction losses (30 A, 1.45 V at 25°C) and lowest switching losses (30 A, 1.55 mJ at 175°C). They feature an extremely low saturation voltage (V CE(sat)) of 1.45 V and have integrated reverse conducting diodes optimized for forward voltage for the target application. This enables the series to deliver best-in-class performance at a low bill of material cost. In addition, the device has the performance advantages of its predecessor, the TRENCHSTOP 5 WR5 family.

     The WR6 series features a new TO-247-3-HCC package with increased creepage and clearance, and improved insulation voltage ratings. As a result, this series enables a more reliable system design that is resistant to contamination and condensation, which are frequently encountered in applications such as outdoor air conditioners. Not only that, the TRENCHSTOP 5 WR6 series can also reduce the total cost of system ownership, lower failure rate, and also achieve higher switching frequency in the application.
