Infineon launches new MOTIX™ BTN99xx series of intelligent half-bridge driver ICs

       Following the successful release of BTN89xx, Infineon Technologies AG once again launched a new MOTIX™ BTN99xx (NovalithIC™+) series of intelligent half-bridge driver ICs. The chip integrates P-channel high-side MOSFET and N-channel low-side MOSFET, and multiple smart driver ICs in a single package. The BTN99xx will be ideal for automotive applications due to its ease of use, good protection features and scalability. In addition, since the BTN99xx integrates many different functions in a single rugged package, it is especially suitable for some applications that require tight control of PCB area. It is also worth mentioning that it is also highly reliable, making it ideal for applications such as seat control, power tailgate and side sliding doors, fuel pumps, and more.

      The new device is integrated in a rugged package using Infineon's advanced chip-by-chip and stack-up processes. Thanks to Infineon's latest MOSFET technology and innovative chip thinning process, the normal path resistance of the BTN99xx can be significantly reduced by 47% to 5.30 mΩ at 25°C, while its current limit can be increased to 75A. Therefore, the BTN99xx can be said to be a unique and cost-effective solution on the market for miniaturized high-current PWM (pulse width modulation) motor drivers.

      The MOTIX BTN99xx further completes and enhances Infineon's current portfolio of MOTIX motor control ICs. The product portfolio falls between discrete gate drivers and highly integrated embedded power motor control products based on Arm® processors. The BTN99xx series chips include BTN9970LV and BTN9990LV, both of which are packaged in a 7 x 8 mm² HSOF-7 package.
