Infineon launches industry's first secure microcontroller with Trusted Firmware-M, Arm Mbed OS and Pelion IoT platform

     Infineon Technologies AG has launched a highly integrated IoT lifecycle management solution to help IoT device manufacturers reduce firmware development risks and speed time-to-market. It's also the industry's first solution to combine the well-known PSoC 64 secure microcontroller with Trusted Firmware-M embedded security, Arm Mbed IoT OS, and Arm Pelion IoT platform, so you don't need custom security firmware to securely design, manage, and update IoT products. This Pelion-ready, Mbed OS-enabled solution is Level 1 certified by the Platform Security Architecture (PSA), demonstrating industry best security practices.

     Vikram Gupta, Senior Vice President IoT, Computing and Wireless at Infineon, said, "A large number of studies have shown that one of the barriers preventing consumers from using IoT products is their privacy and security concerns. Working together, our IoT lifecycle management solution integrates open source firmware with advanced security, making it easier for device manufacturers to network, manage and update their products."

     Implementing Trusted Firmware-M through PSoC 64 greatly simplifies the security implementation process of the device. This open source software brings configurable components capable of supporting the PSA Functional API and creating a "Secure Processing Environment (SPE)" for Arm Cortex-M-based microcontrollers. The PSoC 64 Root of Trust makes it easier for IoT device manufacturers to obtain PSA certification for their end products.

     Pelion Device Management enables secure device management at every stage of the product lifecycle, from product provisioning to decommissioning. It uses a dual-core architecture, where the Arm Cortex-M4 core runs the application and the Arm Cortex-M0+ core acts as a secure processor with a pre-built root of trust.
