Infineon launches a new generation of AURIX™ MCUs with a main frequency of 500MHz

As a leader in the global automotive semiconductor market, Infineon Technologies AG continues to lead the future of mobility with technological innovation. The company today announced the launch of the new AURIX™ A TC4x family of microcontrollers (MCUs) manufactured on 28nm process technology, further enhancing its AURIX™ microcontroller family lineup. The AURIX™ TC4x family of microcontrollers can be widely used in next-generation electric vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive electronics/electrical (E/E) architectures, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

The company today announced the launch of the new AURIX™ A TC4x family of microcontrollers (MCUs) manufactured on 28nm process technology, further enhancing its AURIX™ microcontroller family lineup. The AURIX™ TC4x family of microcontrollers can be widely used in next-generation electric vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive electronics/electrical (E/E) architectures, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

     The new product family has been upgraded on the basis of Infineon's leading AURIX™ TC3x series microcontrollers, using the next-generation TriCore™ 1.8 architecture and equipped with the AURIX™ accelerator kit for higher scalability. The kit integrates a new parallel processing unit (PPU) and a SIMD vector digital signal processor (DSP) that can meet the requirements of various AI topologies for various applications such as real-time control and radar data post-processing. In addition, AURIX™ TC4x is highly scalable and supports a common software architecture that can significantly reduce costs.

     AURIX™ next-generation TC4x family of microcontrollers will power the development of electric vehicles and autonomous driving technologies. It enables vehicles to achieve higher levels of connectivity and safety, further consolidating and strengthening Infineon's leadership in reliable automotive electronics. In addition, the new SOTA (software online update) function also meets the needs of OEMs to securely and quickly connect the car to the cloud for software upgrades in the field and diagnostics and analysis while the vehicle is on the move. The AURIX™ TC4x family of microcontrollers are equipped with high-speed communication interfaces such as 5 Gbit Ethernet and PCI-E, as well as new interfaces such as CAN-XL and 10BASE T1S Ethernet. Greater network throughput and greater interconnectivity give customers the performance and flexibility they need to develop new electronic/electrical architectures.

     Infineon's AURIX™ family of microcontrollers has become the architecture of choice for high-growth automotive applications as well as safety-critical automotive applications for powertrain, safety, assisted and autonomous driving, as well as domain or regional control device, etc. Infineon's AURIX™ TC4x ecosystem has gained a lot of attention in the industry as the complexity of vehicles continues to increase and artificial intelligence technologies become more commonplace. AURIX™ TC4x can help customers improve the ease of use of products and bring products to market quickly. Infineon is working with Synopsys to accelerate software development to support the AURIX™ TC4x family of microcontrollers. Synopsys' TC4x-enabled Virtualizer Development Kit (VDK) can speed up software development during the design phase. The Synopsys DesignWare® ARC® MetaWare Toolkit supporting AURIX™ TC4x provides the compilers, debuggers, libraries, and simulators required for software development on the PPU.

The AURIX™ TC4x family of microcontrollers offers the DesignWare ARC MetaWare Toolkit and Virtualizer Development Kit to help Infineon customers develop AI-driven functions in AURIX™ TC4x that meet safety, performance and energy efficiency requirements for power applications such as drivetrains and ADAS processing.”

     Products from other partners will follow this pattern, enabling MATLAB to automatically generate code for rapid prototyping. The AURIX™ family of microcontrollers is highly scalable and will help customers get to market faster and benefit from it. Since the product is compatible with a variety of hardware and software, customers can reuse existing TC3x algorithms and ecosystems.
