Infineon introduces a 22 kW reference design for industrial general-purpose motor drives

     In the power electronics and semiconductor markets, the systems approach is gaining momentum. To support this trend, Infineon Technologies has introduced a pre-tested industrial reference design that significantly reduces the time to market for customers to develop products. The reference design is a general-purpose motor driver with a power rating of 22 kW that can operate directly on a three-phase grid of 380 to 480 volts. The design can be completely reused for customer system design and allows customers to evaluate Infineon products under real working conditions. It is suitable for applications such as pumps, fans, compressors and conveyor belts.

     The design combines Infineon's latest technology in one system. It includes the EasyPIM™ 3B IGBT7 module FP100R12W3T7_B11 with high current and high power density, the EiceDRIVER™ Compact 1ED3131MC12H with optimal EMI performance and low power consumption. And the XENSIV™ current sensor TLI4971-A120T5, which measures high currents with minimal power loss. CoolSiC™ MOSFET IMBF170R1K0M1 has a blocking voltage of 1700V and is the core part of the auxiliary power supply. The system also contains two microcontrollers - the XMC4800 for control and the XMC4300 for communication - including a pre-installed motor control package. This combination allows these products to be evaluated in a single design.
