High performance step-up - boost switch regulator controller

The LTC3789 is a high performance step-boost switch regulator controller in a low-spec 28-pin 4mm × 5mm QFN and narrow SSOP package. The input voltage is higher, lower, or equal to the output voltage. Constant frequency current mode architecture allows up to 600kHz phase-locking frequency, while the output current feedback loop provides battery charging support.

The LTC3789 features a wide 4V to 38V(up to 40V) input and output range as well as seamless, low-noise transitions between work areas, making it ideal for automotive, telecommunications, and battery powered systems. The operating MODE of the controller is determined by the MODE/PLLIN pin. The MODE/PLLIN pin can choose between pulse skip mode and forced continuous mode operation, and allows the IC to synchronize with the external clock.

The pulse skip mode provides high efficiency and low ripple at light loads, while the forced continuous mode operates at a constant frequency in noise-sensitive applications. The PGOOD pin indicates that the output is within 10% of its design set point.
