Gigajot launches GJ04122, the world's highest resolution photon counting image sensor

     Gigajot Technology announces a pioneering portfolio of quantum image sensors: the GJ04122 sensor and associated QIS41 camera. The quantum image sensor GJ04122 with photon counting and photon number resolution features market-leading resolution (41 million pixels) and low read noise (0.35 e-), enabling photon counting and photon number resolution at room temperature. Built on the GJ04122 sensor, the QIS41 camera works perfectly with standard 4/3-inch microscope optics, bringing unmatched resolution and low-light performance to scientific and industrial imaging applications.

     The 41-megapixel GJ04122 sensor, funded in part by the National Science Foundation's Small Business Innovation Research Initiative (SBIR), has a pixel size of 2.2 microns and a read noise of only 0.35 e -- significantly lower than products of similar pixel size. The quantum image sensor is capable of photon counting and photon number resolution at full resolution at a maximum speed of 30 frames per second. High resolution and extremely low read noise provide flexibility for Binning readout modes and additional post-processing, while keeping read noise still less than low-resolution image sensors. While pushing the limits of low-light imaging, the GJ04122 sensor also utilizes Gigajot's patented high dynamic range pixels to deliver an impressive 95dB single-exposure dynamic range.
