German Pilz's new radar sensor can now be used for robot monitoring

     For safe protected area monitoring in harsh conditions, the radar sensor PSENradar from Pilz is new: PSEN rd1.2 can be used for Cat.3/PL d also to safely protect robotic applications. In combination with the also new analysis unit PSEN rd1.x I/O PN, it is now easier to integrate safety radar systems into existing applications and thus optimize commissioning. Safety radar systems can be used wherever optoelectronic sensors are not suitable. Especially in harsh application conditions such as wood processing, mineral and steel processing/heavy industry and transport and logistics industries, PSENradar in combination with the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 represents a safe and complete solution for protected area monitoring, including compliance Evaluate.

     PSEN rd1.2 complements the existing radar sensors in the safety radar system PSEN rd1.1. In contrast, it has a dual-channel structure that enables advanced protection to Performance Level (PL) d Cat.3. As a result, new radar sensors can be used in applications with higher safety requirements. The radar sensor is mounted on three axes and can also be mounted vertically to the ceiling due to the rotation around the X and Y axes. Therefore, PSEN rd1.2 can be installed and used quickly and flexibly.

     Meanwhile, PSEN rd1.2 offers a working range of 5 meters and a narrow opening angle of 20° vertically or 20-100° horizontally, which can be configured in 10° increments. The flexibility and adaptability of the operating range and opening angle enables applications to be set up quickly and individually, which also contributes to improved usability.
