
Flex Power Modules now introduces the BMR474, a high power density, digital non-isolated point load (PoL) regulator. With a vertically mounted SIP (single-in-line package) design, the BMR474 saves valuable board space while being able to deliver up to 80A output current with a maximum power output of 198W. Designed for telecommunications and data communication applications, the BMR474 offers excellent cost performance and up to 95.1% efficiency at 12V input 3.3V output full load conditions.
The input voltage ranges from 6V to 15V, and the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.6V to 3.3V. For output voltages from 0.6V to 1.8V, the BMR474 can deliver up to 80A, while for output voltages over 1.8V, its maximum output current is 60A. Under the condition of 12V input 1V output full load, the ripple and noise are only 5mV.
The SIP module includes power connections optimized for high currents, thus minimizing resistance losses between the power module and the load. Its high efficiency and optimized thermal design offers minimal power derating, while for more demanding applications, the BMR474 is available in models with radiators.
Easily set up through its PMBus digital interface, the BMR474 provides a wide range of monitoring, configuration and control functions, and is also supported by Flextronics Power Designer software for power modules, which makes design and commissioning easier. By using the software's simulation capabilities, optimizing loop configuration parameters is simple, which means that designers can obtain a stable control loop with fast load transient responses depending on the application.
The regulator operates from -40 ° C to +125 ° C and meets the safety requirements specified by IEC/EN/UL 62368-1. For maximum reliability, it includes protection mechanisms such as under voltage, over voltage, over mild and over current. This enables it to achieve a very long operating life, with an average time between failures (MTBF) of more than 23.19Mh.
