Flex Introduces Next-Generation Non-Isolated Digital Quarter-Brick DC/DC Converters Delivering 1200W Peak Power Rating

      Flex Power Modules announces the BMR350, a quarter-brick non-isolated DC/DC converter rated at 860W continuous and 1200W peak, ideal as an intermediate bus converter for processors and ASICs with peak power demands device power supply. The product has an input voltage range of 40 to 60V (transient 80V/100 ms), fully regulated 12V, a maximum output of 100A, and is adjustable from 8 to 13.2V. This innovative transformer-coupled, non-isolated topology reduces the product's component count and current stress, and achieves peak efficiency greater than 97.8% at 48V input half-load. When the BMR350 is derated, the available output power can be determined based on the innovative 3D thermal data map provided by Flex Power Modules, taking into account the actual pin and substrate temperature up to 100°C, and the wind speed at the user end, which makes it possible to Maximum power output with increased converter stress.

     If higher power levels are required, the use of active current sharing between paralleled modules is an option. With the recommended external filter circuit, the BMR350 meets the requirements of electromagnetic interference (EMI) standard EN 55032/FCC Part 15J "Class B".

     The BMR350 integrates comprehensive protection against output overvoltage, overcurrent and module overheating, and the PMBus® interface provides remote control and monitoring, supported by the "Flex Power Designer" software tool. A special feature of the BMR350 is the inclusion of an "event data logger" that can be queried to analyze anomalies before the converter shuts down.

     The BMR350 is housed in a standard quarter brick package with a footprint of 58.4 x 36.8 mm, and is only 12 mm high including the integrated substrate with threaded mounting holes. The pins are through-hole pins, suitable for through-hole reflow soldering, wave soldering or manual soldering, and the pin positions are compatible with similar products on the market.
