
With its speed and torque, FAULHABER's new AM3248 stepper motor further raises the power standard in its class. It tops out at 10,000 rpm, five times faster than comparable stepper motors. With a reduction ratio of 100:1 it can output 5 Nm of torque. Although powerful, the motor is only 32 mm in diameter, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in aerospace, laboratory automation, large optical equipment, semiconductor industry, robotics and 3D printing technology.
The multi-pole dual-phase AM3248 stepper motor has 48 steps per revolution and a static torque of up to 85mNm. The motor has a high starting speed from the first step, and due to its low inertia, the motor is suitable for applications requiring fast acceleration and fast commutation. The newly developed large ball bearing also further extends the service life of the motor. The performance parameters that can be achieved by the combination of the motor and the 32 GPT gearbox are far beyond the similar products of this specification level on the market. The motor can also be combined with an IE3 magneto-electric encoder.
These properties and options make this motor ideal for demanding applications. For example, the alignment and positioning of satellite solar panels. Under the control of the motor, the solar panel can keep facing the sun at any time. In addition to being able to operate accurately and reliably for many years, the motor must also be able to withstand the extreme temperatures of outer space. The internal installation space of equipment in the semiconductor industry is very limited, but high dynamics and high rotational speeds are still required. In such applications, the highest precision and reliability must also be ensured.
