     E-peas has announced new products for its environmental energy harvesting management system, a family optimized for Remote control unit (RCU) and Wireless keyboard (KBD) designs.


     The new PMIC AEM00920 and AEM10920 support advanced features: maximize the transfer of energy collected from photovoltaic (PV) cells, store the energy in off-the-shelf storage elements, and provide a reliable power source for application circuits.


     According to the company, the energy conversion efficiency of the PMIC from the capture to the storage element is as high as 95%. The AEM00920 is optimized for photovoltaics with constant voltage regulation between 0.25V and 3.2V, while the AEM10920 is optimized for photovoltaics with maximum power points (ranging from 0.25V to 3.2V) with configurable MPPT ratios of 35% to 90%.


     Memory elements such as hybrid lithium capacitors, small lithium-ion batteries and even triple NiMH batteries require dedicated protection mechanisms to be implemented in these Pmics. Both devices integrate specific 5V boost circuits, allowing designers to add charging boost capabilities to their product designs.


     According to the company, thanks to the integrated buck DC-DC converter, both the AEM00920 and AEM10920 provide an efficient energy conversion path for applications. The GPIO configuration supports a selection of output voltages ranging from 2.2V, 2.5V or 2.8V, and can be connected to the latest connected chipsets. Both Pmics offer ultra-low cold start capability, allowing applications to start even in low light conditions.


     New control and configuration features introduced in both devices include transport modes to protect storage elements from being depleted during transport. With high integration, both ics simplify system development and minimize the bill of materials. Both AEM00920 and AEM10920 are available in 24-pin QFN packages with a 4x4 sq. mm board footprint.
