Diodes introduces the PAM8907 piezoelectric generator driver that maximizes sound pressure levels with ceramic/piezoelectric generators. The PAM8907 has a built-in synchronous boost converter that extends sound pressure levels in battery-operated systems, outperforming similar microphone drivers. The device is optimized for wireless trackers, industrial alarm systems, medical instruments and household devices.
The PAM8907 microphone driver supports a wide input voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V to meet a wide range of potential product applications. By selecting output values for 22VPP or 31VPP peaks (using generic input/output), two different sound pressure level options are available to optimize sound pressure level performance or battery uptime. Its integrated boost converter uses only a 1.0µH external inductor, helping to reduce material costs and board footprint.
Combined with the battery-powered system, the automatic shutdown and wake up function further extends the operation time of the PAM8907 sound driver in a shutdown mode with current consumption below 1μA. Built-in overheat shutdown, overcurrent and overvoltage protection, and low voltage locking mechanism ensure reliable operation. This product can operate in ambient temperatures from -40°C to 125°C.
