Diodes introduces USB 2.0 Signal regulator products

     Diodes announced the launch of the PI5USB212 USB 2.0 signal regulator, which operates at power supply down to 2.3V. The PI5USB212 is designed for use in laptops, personal computers, docking stations, extension cords, TVS and monitors, and automatically detects USB 2.0 high-speed transfers. Signal integrity can also be maintained when the PCB line or data line is extended to 5 meters.

     The IC symmetrically boosts USB D+ and D-channels to achieve Common-Mode stability and compensates for inter-code cross-talk (ISI) in a Pre-emphasis manner. A wide supply voltage range simplifies system design and extends the operating window for portable and battery-powered devices.

     Signal enhancement and ISI compensation can be adjusted by I2C command or pin configuration. It has two control pins (boost/SEN); The AC gain/pre-weighting can be controlled by pulling down the boost pin with different resistors. SEN pins can be selected with high, low or medium receiver sensitivity (DC gain) to ensure optimal signal integrity depending on channel conditions. It automatically detects low speed (LS) mode/Full speed (FS) connections to avoid enabling signal compensation when it is not necessary.

     The PI5USB212 product is compatible with USB 2.0, OTG 2.0, and Battery charging (BC) 1.2, and supports USB features, including device connectivity and high-speed detection, with a voltage tolerance of up to 5.5V. It can automatically detect the unconnected USB status and reduce the supply current to 0.7mA (typical value), thus achieving energy saving. The supply current can also be reduced to 13µA (typical) when the RSTN deactivation pin triggers the deactivation.
