
Diodes Incorporated offers several automotive-qualified synchronous buck converters. The AP6320xQ and AP6330xQ devices are rated at 2A and 3A, respectively, and support a wide input voltage range from 3.8V to 32V. Ideal for automotive point-of-load (PoL) product applications, including powertrain, electronic instrument panels, telematics and infotainment systems, as well as enhancing the performance of automotive body electronics and lighting, as well as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The AP6320xQ devices integrate 125/68mΩ high/low-side power MOSFETs, and the AP6330xQ devices integrate 70/40mΩ high/low-side power MOSFETs, both of which provide high-efficiency step-down DC-DC conversion while keeping external components to a minimum. Use peak current mode control and an integrated loop compensation network to help simplify deployment.
Dedicated gate drivers used in these buck converters mitigate switching node ringing without prolonging MOSFET turn-on and turn-off times. This significantly reduces the high-frequency radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise that typically accompanies switching MOSFETs.
The AP63200Q, AP63203Q, AP63205Q, and AP63300Q devices incorporate a frequency spread spectrum (FSS) feature that helps mitigate EMI. There is also Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode, which can greatly improve the light load efficiency level. Its quiescent current (IQ) is 22μA (typ), which is almost half of most competing products. This helps to improve the conversion efficiency level under light load conditions.
The AP63200Q, AP63201Q, AP63300Q and AP63301Q support a switching frequency of 500kHz. The AP63203Q and AP63205Q support 1100kHz, and their faster switching frequency enables the use of smaller complementary inductor and capacitor components, resulting in greater board space savings and overall lower bill of materials (BOM) costs.
The AP6320xQ and AP6330xQ buck converter families are packaged in a small TSOT26 package and operate over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range. Mechanisms such as undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown ensure continuous and stable operation.
The AP6320xQ and AP6330xQ are AEC-Q100 Tier 1 qualified, support PPAP, and are manufactured in an IATF 16949 certified facility.
