Diodes Corporation (Diodes) (Nasdaq: DIOD) has announced the launch of an ideal diode controller product for protecting systems from reverse discharge. The DZDH0401DW controller drives P-channel MOSFETs to simulate ideal diodes, providing the high side-rail insulation required to block reverse currents in systems up to 40V. Its compact size and outstanding performance make it especially suitable for cordless power tools and self-operated household/garden appliances

     Diodes Corporation announces an ideal diode controller product for protecting systems from reverse discharge. The DZDH0401DW controller drives a P-channel MOSFET to emulate an ideal diode, providing the high-side rail isolation required to block reverse current in systems up to 40V. The compact size and outstanding performance make it ideal for use in cordless power tools and self-operated home/garden appliances such as smart vacuums and smart lawn mowers. The unit is also ideal for other applications including hot-plugging for data center servers and OR-ing rectifiers in N+1 backup power supplies.

     By using the DZDH0401DW with a low on-resistance MOSFET, designers can take advantage of much lower power dissipation than Schottky diode solutions, especially for high power applications. Increased efficiency reduces thermal management costs and increases system reliability. The DZDH0401DW in this configuration detects a disconnected power input and then drives the MOSFET into an off state to isolate any return path and maintain system stability.

     DIODES™'s DZDH0401DW is available in a SOT363 package (2.15mm x 2.1mm x 1mm). This complete reverse discharge protection solution consists of a controller, a MOSFET, and two resistors. Simple and compact configuration minimizes design effort and is an ideal solution for deployment in space-constrained designs.
