Diodes Incorporated Introduces 22V/31V Peak Selectable Output Piezo Sounder Driver

     Diodes Incorporated introduces the PAM8907 Piezo Sounder Driver, which maximizes sound pressure levels with ceramic/piezo sounders. The PAM8907 has a built-in synchronous boost converter that can extend the sound pressure level in battery-powered systems, outperforming comparable sounder drivers. The device is optimized for use in wireless trackers, industrial alarm systems, medical instruments and household appliances.

     The PAM8907 sound generator driver supports a wide input voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, which can meet a variety of potential product applications. By choosing an output value of 22VPP or 31VPP peak (using the universal input and output), two different SPL options are available to optimize SPL performance or battery runtime. Its integrated boost converter requires only a 1.0µH external inductor, helping to reduce bill of materials and board space.

     With battery powered systems, the automatic shutdown and wake-up functions further extend the operating time of the PAM8907 sounder driver in shutdown mode with current consumption below 1μA. Built-in thermal shutdown, over-current and over-voltage protection, and a low-voltage lockout mechanism ensure reliable operation. This product operates normally in ambient temperatures from -40°C to 125°C.
