Dialog launches its first Wi-Fi+BLE combo module, ushering in a new wave of IoT connectivity

     Dialog Semiconductors announced the launch of the DA16600 module, combining Dialog's market-leading Wi-Fi and BLE capabilities into a single module solution. The 2-in-1 module consists of two pioneering new DA16200 and SmartBond TINY DA14531 SoC chips. It will provide customers with industry-leading low-power Wi-Fi and BLE capabilities, further expanding Dialog's IoT portfolio.

     The DA16200 SoC is designed for battery-powered IoT applications, including smart door locks, thermostats, security cameras, and other applications that require Wi-Fi connectivity at all times. The SoC uses VirtualZero technology to achieve the industry's lowest Wi-Fi connection power consumption, delivering up to five years of battery life in many applications even for devices that are always connected. To provide designers with maximum design flexibility at the lowest cost, the DA16600 module also utilizes the SmartBond TINY DA14531, the world's smallest and lowest power Bluetooth SoC.

     The Wi-Fi + BLE combo module is a reliable firmware solution that combines two complex protocol stacks, eliminating the problems typically caused by having two 2.4 GHz radios co-existing in one design. BLE makes Wi-Fi configuration easier and greatly simplifies Wi-Fi setup for end users. With optimized design, integrating modules into embedded IoT products is simply a matter of following a simple set of design guidelines provided by Dialog. Finally, customers will have the added advantage of no longer having to procure two separate SOCs for their applications.

     The module is fully certified for use worldwide with certifications including FCC, IC, CE, Telec, Korea and SRRC. It is also Wi-Fi CERTIFIED for connectivity. The evaluation board and full Software Development Kit (SDK) for the DA16600 module are now available and can be ordered through DigiKey. The SDK includes sample applications, configuration applications, AT command libraries, power management tools, and more.
