Dialog Expands AC/DC Portfolio with Zero-Voltage Switching Technology for High Power Density PSUs

     Dialog Semiconductor, a leading provider of battery and power management, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), industrial edge computing solutions, introduces innovative digital zero-voltage switching (ZVS) chipsets that enable high power densities of 100W and beyond ( HPD) power supply (PSU), the size is 30% to 50% smaller than traditional high power PSU.

     Historically, AC/DC converters have been challenged by thermal limitations related to device efficiency. Now, with Dialog's patented ZVS chipset, design engineers can shrink component size and reduce BOM cost, enabling smaller, lighter power supplies, including for smartphones, tablets, laptops, power tools and other portable The device's power adapter.

     Dialog's easy-to-use ZVS RapidCharge™ solution consists of the primary side controller iW9801 and the secondary side iW709 USB PD protocol IC. A secondary-side digital compensation loop ensures stability and eliminates the need for additional compensation components. A synchronous rectification controller is integrated into the secondary side iW709, further reducing the overall component count.

     The solution provides seamless multi-mode control, can achieve up to 94% efficiency, eliminates auditory noise in high-power charging, enables a small form factor and safe low-heat charger, and is an environmentally friendly standby power consumption of less than 20mW solution. The chipset provides powerful over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), user-configurable over-temperature protection, common protection, input power-on/under-voltage protection, VSENSE/ISENSE short-circuit protection, output short-circuit protection and other functions. and additional primary side overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection.
