C&K Introduces ENC Series 24-Bit Optically Encoded Switches with Integrated Push Buttons

     C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-quality electromechanical switches, has introduced a new optical rotary encoder - the ENC series of 24-bit optical encoders with integrated pushbuttons. We have developed this new encoder based on improvements to the already very successful 16-bit optical encoder. In addition to a 50% increase in detent position, the 24-bit encoder also includes a right-angle connector socket (often requested by users), making installation easier for the user. The central encoder shaft allows for smooth and precise rotation, making functions such as mode selection and menu navigation easier to operate, as well as responding quickly and accurately to user input. Pushing down on the encoder shaft activates the integrated button, making the encoder a form of interface control. This all-in-one compact design makes operating the encoder as easy as clicking a button.

     The new 24-position central selector switch is smooth to the touch for quick rotation. The output of the encoder's 2-bit grade code makes it easy to detect the direction and magnitude of rotation by any microcontroller the user prefers.

     ENC series 24-bit encoders are ideal for applications such as in-vehicle entertainment clusters, navigation and volume control buttons. It is also suitable for applications in medical devices such as menu navigation, power cycling and intensity adjustment. In an industrial setting, it performs well in the mode selection of control panels and other similar functions.
