C&K Compact Side Actuated Tact Switches for Portable Equipment

     C&K has added two new compact tact switches to its comprehensive PTS line. Ideal for portable electronics in a wide range of markets, the newly designed PTS845 and PTS850 series of side-actuated tact switches offer designers more options for designing end products. This rugged, ultra-thin SMT switch is commonly used in portable devices including headphones, sports watches, health monitoring devices, Bluetooth accessories, black boxes, and navigation.

     The small PTS845 series measures only 4.5 mm x 3.4 mm x 3.3 mm and has three standard starting forces. Both meet customer needs and simplify integration. The PTS845 series includes 80gf version, 160gf version and 260gf version. The ultra-low profile PTS850 series is equally small at 5.4 mm x 5.0 mm x 1.8 mm and comes in two standard starting forces. The PTS850 series includes a 180 gf version and a 350 gf version.

     These SMT tact switches can be fully integrated into the standard process of reflow soldering, saving time and cost for OEMs. The bracket and pin design of the PTS845 eliminates the need for additional cost and integration for the pin to achieve high weld strength. The boss design of the PTS850 allows customers to easily position the switch on the PCB prior to soldering.
