Broadcom's AEAT-9955 Programmable Angle Magnetic Encoder with Safety

     Broadcom's AEAT-9955 programmable magnetic encoder provides accurate angle measurements over a 360-degree rotational range. The device is a complex system that integrates Hall sensor elements and complex analog and digital signal processing functions in a single device. A simple bipolar magnet generates the necessary magnetic field by rotating vertically. The wide magnetic field sensor configuration allows the use of on-axis (shaft end) or off-axis (shaft side, axial and radial) modes in the application.

     The AEAT-9955 is a versatile solution that supports a wide range of applications with a robust architecture that measures and provides absolute and incremental signals. Absolute angle measurement provides an instant indication of the angular position of the magnet, with a choice of 10-bit to 18-bit reprogrammable resolution. Once selected, its positioning data will be represented in its digital form for evaluation via standard SSI (parity) and SPI (with CRC and parity options) communication protocols. The user can also choose to receive its absolute angular position in the PWM encoded output signal. Incremental positions are displayed on ABI and UVW signals with a wide range of user-configurable resolutions for ABI signals from 1 CPR up to 20,000 CPR; for UVW commutated signals, pole pairs from 1 to 32 (2 to 64 poles).
