Broadcom Releases First WiFi 7 SoC BCM4916, Quad-Core Armv8

     Broadcom announces its first WiFi 7 SoC, model BCM4916, featuring a quad-core ARMv8 processor delivering up to 24 DMIPS of performance with 1 MB L2 cache and 64 kB L1 cache

     According to reports, compared to most current router SoCs, Broadcom's new BCM4916 stands out for its wide range of high-speed connectivity options. First, it has no less than four PCIe ports, a native 10 Gbps network port, and a pair of USB 3.2 ports. This SoC also supports DDR3 and DDR4 memory.

     In terms of WiFi 7 chipsets, Broadcom has released five models, the BCM6726 and BCM67263 for consumer products, the BCM43740 and BCM73720 for enterprise products, and the BCM4398 for mobile devices. The BCM6726 supports the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, and the BCM67263 only supports the 6 GHz band. But the BCM67263 offers 320 MHz of channel bandwidth, which is necessary to reach the 40 Gbps-plus bandwidth that WiFi 7 will achieve.
