
The AKD1000-powered Mini PCIe board plugs into developers' existing systems to unlock capabilities for a variety of edge AI applications, including smart cities, smart health, smart homes, and smart transportation. BrainChip will also provide complete PCIe design layout files and bill of materials (BOM) to system integrators and developers, enabling them to build their own boards and mass-produce the AKD1000 chip as a standalone embedded accelerator or coprocessor.
Thanks to their performance, security, low power requirements, and ability to perform AI training and learning on the device itself, independent of the cloud, these new boards help usher in a new era of AI at the edge. Manufacturable chips provide high-speed neuromorphic processing of sensor data at low cost, high speed, and extremely low power consumption. PCIe boards are available for pre-order today on the BrainChip website. Pricing starts at $499.

The introduction of BrainChip's new PCIe board comes on the heels of the company's October launch of development kit offerings. Both development kits -- an x86 Shuttle PC development kit, and an ARM-based Raspberry Pi development kit -- include the AKD1000 chip on a Mini PCIe board and are available to partners, large enterprises, and OEMs.
