
Bourns, a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, has expanded the company's SinglFuse product line with two new families of automotive-grade SMD fuse models. Bourns models SF-0603SA-M and SF-1206SA-M series are fully compliant with Bourns' internal AEC-Q200 equivalent test procedures, providing robust overcurrent protection for a wide range of harsh environment applications requiring long life and high reliability. While the AEC-Q200 standard may be specific to automotive testing and certification, the enhanced product design and robust performance required to meet it can be found in a wide range of industrial, low - and medium-risk medical †, off-highway transportation, factory automation, and communications systems applications.
The SinglFuse SF-0603SA-M and SF-1206SA-M model families each feature a slow fixing speed, which is defined as a five-second room temperature clear time classification at 250% of the rated current. The new model family features small EIA 0603 and 1206 occupancy areas and Bourns' advanced multi-layer ceramic design for enhanced voltage and current handling at ambient operating temperatures up to 150 °C. In addition, the latest SinglFuse models are built with ceramic multilayer technology to provide increased thermal shock, salt spray and mechanical vibration reliability at elevated operating temperatures within rated specifications.
The SF-0603SA-M series offers current ratings of 0.5 A to 8 A with rated voltages of 24 Vdc to 65 Vdc, while the SF-1206SA-M model series offers current ratings of 0.5 A to 5 A with rated voltages of 65 Vdc.
As electronic systems become more integrated, interconnected, and sensitive to external influences, overcurrent conditions can cause damage, shorten product life, reduce equipment efficiency, and, in extreme cases, harm the body. For this reason, Bourns continues to develop innovative fuse products to meet the growing demand for effective overcurrent protection in a wide range of applications and operating environments.
