Analog Devices introduces Micro-sized power management ics that increase charging speed of wearable and ear-worn devices by up to four times

     Analog Devices announced the launch of the MAX77659 Single Inductor Multiple Output (SIMO) Power management IC (PMIC), an integrated switching mode up/down charger that charges wearable, ear-worn, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices faster and smaller than other Pmics in the market today. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC provides more than 4 hours of battery life in just 10 minutes of charging and uses a single inductor to power multiple power rails, reducing the bill of Materials (BOM) by 60% and the total solution size by 50%.

     The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC integrated switch mode boost/buck charger provides three independent programmable boost/buck regulators sharing the same inductance to minimize the total size of the solution. The regulator achieves up to 91% efficiency under medium and high load conditions and a static current of only 5µA under light load conditions, effectively extending battery life. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC supports autonomous margin control to minimize voltage drop and thus heat loss, while providing sufficient margin to adjust charging current.
