Analog Devices announces a Nanoscale power consumption galvanic SoH monitor with integrated precision Coulomb counters

     Analog Devices introduces the LTC3337, a Nanoscale power primary (non-rechargeable) health (SoH) monitor with integrated precision Coulomb counters designed to minimize the associated series voltage drop when placed in series with primary cells. The patented unlimited dynamic range Coulomb counter records all accumulated battery discharges and stores them in internal registers accessible via the I2C interface. The LTC3337's static current consumption is only 100nA, which helps to extend battery operation time.

     The LTC3337 also integrates additional SoH variable monitoring capabilities to measure and report battery voltage, battery impedance, and temperature via I2C. To accommodate various galvanic inputs, peak input current limiting values can be selected from 5mA to 100mA via the pin. This allows the IC to provide a load state for the battery, allowing the battery to deliver maximum capacity regardless of the actual load. This is a "battery friendly" feature that extends the life of the battery unit. The LTC3337 is ideal for galvanic applications that require only occasional power supply, such as remote locations, electronic door locks, glass break detectors, and more. The device can also be used in rechargeable battery applications.
