Analog Devices Introduces Tiny-Sized Power Management IC to Charge Wearables and Hearables 4X Faster

     Analog Devices, Inc. announces the MAX77659 single-inductor, multiple-output (SIMO) power management IC (PMIC) with integrated switch-mode buck-boost charger to charge wearable, hearable, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices faster than the current market The other PMICs in the are faster and smaller. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC provides more than 4 hours of battery life from a 10-minute charge, and the device uses a single inductor to power multiple rails, reducing the bill of materials (BOM) by 60% and reducing overall solution size by 50%.

     The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC integrated switch-mode buck-boost charger provides three independently programmable buck-boost regulators that share the same inductor to minimize overall solution size. The regulator's efficiency is as high as 91% under medium and high load conditions, and the quiescent current is only 5µA under light load conditions, which effectively prolongs battery life. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC supports autonomous headroom control, which minimizes voltage drop to reduce thermal losses, while providing sufficient headroom to regulate charge current.
