Analog Devices Introduces Feature-Rich Automotive-Grade Boost Controller

     Analog Devices, Inc (ADI) introduces a high-efficiency multiphase synchronous boost controller for regulating high-power Class-D amplifiers in automotive infotainment systems. The MAX25203 features programmable gate-drive voltage and current-limit blanking time, as well as high-precision current equalization, and operates at high switching frequencies to reduce bill-of-materials costs and reduce PCB space by 36%. The MAX25203 joins ADI's family of automotive-grade boost controllers, which includes the MAX25201 and MAX25202 single/dual boost controllers, both designed for lower-power applications.

     The MAX25203 controller starts up from a 4.5V to 42V battery input voltage and can operate down to 1.8V after startup. The device maintains an absolute maximum output voltage up to 70V and features a low 5µA shutdown supply current. The MAX25203 can be used to generate backlight and Class D audio amplifier voltages, and provides I2C bus diagnostics including die temperature, phase current monitoring, and optional true shutdown for improved system stability. The output voltage can be scaled via the PWM input or I2C interface, and the synchronous output feature supports additional phases to support higher power systems.
