
Ams Osram today announced that its multispectral technology products have been adopted as the core device of BiologyWorks k(now), which enables economical and rapid laborate-grade molecular assays for the detection of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) and other viral infections.
"Ams OSram's spectral sensors are a key component on BiologyWorks k(now) devices and have the unique ability to quickly and reliably identify samples to ensure accurate digital results," said Peter Marx, founder of BiologyWorks.
Using the BiologyWorks k(now) device is simple: Sample with a front nasal swab, mix in two test tubes of liquid in succession, and then take a drop of the mixture into a disposable test box; The detection box is then inserted into the molecular detection device. The device has high accuracy and low cost, and can detect multiple indexes simultaneously. Finally, the COVID-19 test results can be obtained by scanning the QR code on the device's display with a smartphone.
The BiologyWorks k(now) device uses AMS OSram's 10-channel spectral sensor, the AS7341L, to provide highly accurate spectral recognition for reflection or fluorescence measurements. The AS7341L's multi-wavelength method enables cost-effective multi-analyte inspection and offers a package that is compatible with mobile devices. With cutting-edge software and hardware from BiologyWorks, combined with LAMP chemistry, analysis and results can be done in minutes at home.
