Ampleon Announces Further Expansion of Its Next-Generation Amplifier IC Portfolio

Ampleon announced the further expansion of its portfolio of next-generation amplifier ICs. With power ratings of 1400W and 1600W, the devices in the new ART1K6x family can operate in the frequency range of 1MHz to 450MHz. High breakdown voltage allows them to be used in 48V Class E power amplifiers and 55V Class AB power amplifiers (the maximum VDS value supported is 177V)

     Ampleon announced the further expansion of its portfolio of next-generation amplifier ICs. These devices are based on the company's Advanced Rugged Technology (ART); due to their durable design, they can handle the harshest operating conditions.

     With power ratings of 1400W and 1600W, the devices in the new ART1K6x family can operate from 1MHz to 450MHz. The high breakdown voltage enables them to be used in 48V Class E power amplifiers and 55V Class AB power amplifiers (the maximum VDS value supported is 177V). They can be used to cope with a 65:1 Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), which means they can be used to mitigate any potential load mismatch issues. The high impedance levels exhibited by these LDMOS amplifiers help reduce power losses. Therefore, it only needs to use a much lower current. It also needs to dissipate less heat, thereby reducing the associated thermal management overhead and minimizing the system's BOM cost.

     The ART1K6PH (G) amplifiers are available in an OMP-1230 straight lead or gull wing package, while the ART1K6FH devices are available in a SOT539AN package. They all contain double-sided electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection mechanisms. They can be used in a variety of applications including plasma generators, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, CO2 lasers, and particle accelerators. Other possible applications include broadcast and wireless communications.
